Outfit Post: Lace and Denim

I have decided that I should probably apologise for wearing this denim gilet so bloody much recently, I imagine it must get really boring seeing it in practically every post, but it just seems to work with everything I pair it with, so here it is again! I wore it with my lace shirt dress and got the tights and boots back out, as those of you in the UK will know, the weather has gone a bit downhill recently and I didn't feel like going for bare legs today.

Anyway I wore this to go shopping today as I had quite a few things to get in preparation for my holiday such as toiletries and make-up and also had another look round the sales and actually found a nice pair of floral shorts in the Next sale for £10. I usually don't go for much of the stuff in Next, which I think is mainly due to my stint working there last Christmas and getting so tired of looking at all the clothes so I just can't stand the sight of anymore floral smock tops or glitzy tunics, but these shorts are actually a really nice shape and print so I thought, why not?

Oh and I also got a new phone today! It's the HTC Wildfire and although I am yet to play with it, as it is currently on charge, I am very excited at the prospect of having a lovely new phone that is not scratched and old and battered to play with!

Temptation!

Even though I've said that I can't buy anything else now for the rest of the month, as I am very much lacking in cash, I then spotted this Low Luv by Erin Wasson necklace on sale at my-wardrobe.com! I want it so badly! And even though it's now £49 instead of £98 I really don't think I'm going to be able to justify spending what little money I have on this, although if I did get it I know I would wear it to death!

Also the kind people at ASOS have gone and given all their facebook fans a code for 10% off all sale items (the code is ASOSTREATS if you didn't already know!) which, although it's not a huge discount, I'm one of those people who has to use a discount code even if there's not necessarily anything I really want to buy! It always feels like such a waste not to use it! Anyway I put together a few of the things that I'm tempted by in the ASOS sale, which I have so far managed to resist, although I'm not sure how long that is going to last!

From Clockwise; Smock Dress: £18, Vest Dress: £8, Leggings: £9, Bag: £36, Jumper Dress: £27, Bag: £11, Embellished Dress: £28, Belt: £8

Yesterday's Outfit: My Brother's Graduation

Was going to post this last night when I got home but we had a huge power cut and although my laptop still worked, the internet did not. Stupid power company people!

Anyway yesterday we went up to Lancaster to go to my brother's graduation ceremony, which although very enjoyable it was also very boring in parts, my  mum and dad actually both fell asleep at one point! (Although not when my brother was on the stage though!)

I thought the weather was going to be a bit nicer than it turned out to be so I wore a lingerie inspired slip dress paired with my vintage blazer and my new wedge boots! It's quite a similar outfit to this one I wore a few weeks ago although the dress is different I assure you! The weather turned out to be colder than I would have liked so I felt a bit chilly, but oh well!

Me and Jonny!
I'm wearing:
Dress - Topshop
Blazer - Vintage
Boots - Topshop (via ebay)

Jonny and his girlfriend Sarah :)

Mum (wearing a gorgeous DKNY top and cardi) and Dad with Jonny.

LOL at the woman behind us who looks like she's going to punch someone in the face! I think her dress is French Connection though? (Wow, I'm sad!)

Yesterday's Day Out: The Forbidden Corner

Here's another "day out" post! Yesterday we went to this place in North Yorkshire called The Forbidden Corner which is basically like this mad, random adventure park in this great big garden. There are all these underground passages and mazes and sculptures and you have to work out riddles to get round, or you'll very easily get lost! It can be a bit cheesy in places but as long as you're up for a laugh it really is a lot of fun. I used to go quite a lot when I was younger and it was like this sort of hidden gem that only a few people had heard of back then, but since then its got a lot more popular and has won quite a few awards so its been developed a bit and has become really busy!

This is one of the little garden areas that you first arrive in where there are all these different paths leading away to different places, and because of the time of year all the flowers were out and it was so pretty!

I'd decided to wear my new floral shorts that I'd shown you in one of my previous posts, I thought they'd be ideal for the warm weather and also practical for navigating through woodland and various underground passages and so on. I just paired it with an oversized black tee and my denim gilet along with my usual accessories. I really need to stop wearing this denim gilet so much, it's probably getting really boring seeing it in pretty much all of my posts,  but it just goes with everything and is a perfect layering piece when its warm!

This was one of the first weird riddle things you come to. Can you see the creepy little devil fish monster thingy?

One of the paths that leads off from the central garden bit had a little boy statue that squirted water at you when you walked past, so cue me, my mum and my sister trying to run past without getting wet!

Me and my mum:

And then we went down this long path through some trees where there were some random wooden warthog sculpture things that my sister and I sat on and did silly poses on :)

Urghh my legs look like tree trunks here ha!

The path then leads down to a little viewing platform where you can see all the deer in a nearby field. Mr. Stag was being very lazy!

And then we managed to find the bit involving stepping stones and more danger of getting wet! There seems to be a bit of a trend developing for stepping stones on my blog weirdly, its just turned out the past couple of places I've visited have involved stepping stones in one way or another, it's not intended!

Anyway, you've got to cross the stepping stones to get to a passage that goes underground but I'd unfortunately completely forgotten about the fountain thing that sets off right in your face when you step on one of the stones, as you can kinda see in the photo below. It actually took us ages to work out how to get past without getting wet, and in the end me, my mum and my sister had to use umbrellas to protect ourselves while the people behind us got past without any problems because my dad was blocking the sensor!!! And then they were all smug about it as well!

And these are our grumpy faces after getting wet!

So then you go through a sort of Dante's Inferno style corridor and then a stone corridor where there's this huuuge statue that's eyes open and close, which is a bit creepy to say the least!

And then you reach this big circular room, with a devil statue in the middle and there are all these different doors leading off from the room, but you can only get out through one of them! What you can also do though is hide behind one of doors that doesn't lead anywhere and jump out at random strangers when they open it and scare them half to death, which my dad actually did when we came here last! I know it's soooo cruel, but its really funny!

Then once you've found the right door you're led down another path where you have to go through this creepy face door thing where you come to yet another circular room with loads of doors but this ones smaller and moving as well!

Then once you've found the right door here you can either leave and get out into the open or go even further underground where they've got all these cute little scenarios with model rats and then this little theatre thing where the rats are being chased by a cat! It sounds cheesy but its actually sort of scary haha, especially when you're a kid!

Anyway once we were out from underground we went for another wander round and found a few more daft things, this time some wooden bears playing poker:

Then the last thing we found was this giant tree sculpture and my sister and I pretended to try and lift the giant axe. Wow, we are so cool!

So as you can see we had a pretty good time and the countryside there is really gorgeous, definitely worth a visit if you're ever anywhere near!

More Sale Buys!

Bought another couple of pieces from the Topshop sale yesterday,  I just can't resist it when there are further reductions! The black crochet dress had been reduced from £20 to £10 and the maxi dress had been reduced from £30 to £20. I think I really need to stop buying maxi dresses now though!

Also bought a couple of things on sale from Warehouse, the floral midi dress was £20 and then I got this pale pink jersey dress for £7, mainly for my holiday to wear as a cover-up over bikinis and so on. I think I definitely need to give the sale shopping a rest now, as I am now seriously lacking in money! Oh well!

My Topshop Wedge Boots!

In a couple of my previous posts I had talked about a pair of shoes on ebay that I'd bid on but lost, well as it turned out the person who won them ended up putting them back on sale a few days later because they didn't fit them! So I straight away offered to pay the Buy It Now price of £45 (which is a bit of a bargain when the RRP is £135!). I probably should have got the price down a bit but I didn't want to lose my chance of buying them, so I went for it and then just had to wait until they showed up at my door. So after almost a week I finally have them and I am in loveeee!

I had been worried that I wasn't going to get them as the seller had said that they should arrive at the weekend, but then I only got them yesterday, so I was in a massive panic all weekend that I'd spent all that money on something that would never show up. But they did and I am soooo happy! Not only are they gorgeous but they seem reeeeally comfy, so expect to see them a lot in future posts!

Today's Outfit: Maxi Skirt and Planning Ahead for A/W 2010!

Not the most interesting outfit today, but I was only in town with my dad helping him run a few errands, also the weather has been a bit random today, still sunny but mega windy with some rain so I went with my grey maxi skirt I got on sale at Dorothy Perkins, a plain vest and my denim jacket, because I knew if I put on something shorter I'd just end up all cold and goosebumpy ha!

Although the errand-running today was kind of boring and man-orientated (went to B&Q and Currys/PC World) we did pop into Matalan where I picked up a new dress! I'd spotted it in another store a week or so ago but didn't buy it, so I went into my local one and hoped they'd have it, which they did! It's a maxi (surprise, surprise!) but it's got a really nice draped asymmetric hem and its in this grungy tie-dye print which will not only be nice for summer with denim and so on, but will also be perfect for winter with a chunky knitted jumper layered over the top, which looks set to be a pretty big trend for A/W 10!

And for £25 (well £22.50 with my lovely student discount)  I just had to get it! Anything you've spotted/bought recently which you think will be perfect for next season?

Today's Outfit: New Dress

Spent most of the day sunbathing and being generally quite lazy today, but I got out of the house later on and decided to wear one of my new sale purchases! I went with the floral knot back dress I got from Topshop, it really is such a gorgeous shape and is so easy to wear. I reckon this is going to be a staple in my wardrobe over summer!

Today, I just paired it with my denim jacket and sandals, so not the most imaginitive styling ever, but I didn't have long to get ready and luckily its the sort of dress that works with pretty much anything!
